BEIJING, (Reuters) – Peng Shuai, a Chinese tennis player has said that she never accused any person of sexual assault. She also claimed that she had removed a November social media post that appeared to have made such a claim.

Peng was a three time Olympian and it became a concern when Peng claimed on social media that Zhang Gaoli (a former Chinese vice prime minister) had sexually assaulted she in the past.

Peng told L’Equipe that he had never been sexually assaulted by anyone in a conversation he held with the French newspaper.

Peng’s post on social media, which she quickly deleted after posting online, caused a worldwide outcry over her safety and led to the Women’s Tennis Association suspending tournaments in China.

Sources at the International Olympic Committee confirm that Peng was present for dinner with President Thomas Bach Saturday in Beijing, the Winter Olympics bubble.

A source confirmed to Reuters that Peng will be the subject of an IOC statement later Monday.
