Kazakh officials are looking at a proposal that would make crypto-miners in Kazakhstan pay more to operate there.
On Feb. 4, Kazakhstan’s First Vice Minister of Finance, Marat Sultangaziyev, ProposedA price hike from $0.0023 to $0.01 per Kwh (about a 335% rise) was proposed specifically for crypto miners. A tax would be added to each graphics card and piece of equipment used for crypto mining. The tax-per-videocard could be compared to how casinos tax each table that they operate, regardless of whether the table is actively used.
