French state deficit represents “black mark” over French economy -Le Maire -Breaking

PARIS (Reuters), – France’s high state deficit is a “blackmark” on the French economy, Bruno Le Maire, France Inter Radio’s Finance Minister said Tuesday.

France’s Tuesday trade balance was negative at 84.7 billion euros (or $96.6 billion) in 2021, as compared with 64.7 billion the year before.

Le Maire stated that it was imperative to rebalance France’s public finances. With President Emmanuel Macron scheduled to contest a national election, Le Maire agreed.

France saw its fastest recovery from the COVID-19 Crisis last month with a 7% growth.

Macron is expected to seek a second term in spite of the resurgence in France’s COVID virus. Macron has seen his economic performance rise in the past three months, despite a weakening in France.
