(Reuters] – Joyce Beatty (Oregon) demanded an apology of Republican legislator Hal Rogers (NYSE 🙂 of Kentucky Tuesday. She had accused Rogers of insulting and touching her after she asked him for a mask.

Beatty tweeted that Rogers had to don a mask in order to board the train taking congressional members to Capitol Hill.

Rogers then poked Beatty’s back and told her to board her train. After that, she asked Rogers, a long-serving congressman, not to touch her. He replied “Kiss me ans.”

The tweet stated that “This is exactly the type of disrespect we’ve been fighting for many years and it shows the bigger issue we have when GOP members flaunt safety and health mandates intended to keep us safe and our staff protected.”

” ()You know exactly where I am, and you will be able to forgive yourself for what you did,” she said.

Rogers then issued a statement claiming that he spoke with Beatty in an effort to apologize.

He said, “This afternoon I met with Congresswoman Beatty and to personally apologize.” “My words weren’t acceptable, and I apologized to her first and foremost.”

As the COVID pandemic continues, masks have been a source of friction between the parties. Republicans as well as their staffers are refusing to use them. Andrew Clyde and Marjorie Taylor Greene, both Georgia lawmakers, have been fined over $100,000, directly taken from their congressional salaries.
