Lamborghini hopes for combustion engine future beyond 2030

FRANKFURT, DE: Volkswagen’s Lamborghini supercar brand said that it wants to continue making combustion engines vehicles after the decade ends.

Welt am Sonntag: He said that after hybridisation, he would wait to determine if it is possible to sell vehicles with an engine using internal combustion beyond 2030.

One possibility is to use synthetic fuels to maintain combustion engines alive.

Last month, Winkelmann stated that Lamborghini would release its first fully-electric model by the end of 2010. This is a change from last year’s comments about a planned release for the second half of 2011.

Lamborghini and key competitors Ferrari (NYSE:), Aston Martin Lagonda, McLaren are trying to figure out how to switch their ranges from battery power to high-performance without sacrificing the premium pricing.
