SINGAPORE, (Reuters) HSBC announced Monday that Luanne Lim has been appointed chief executive officer for its Hong Kong operation, the largest market. This appointment comes as the Asia-focused bank seeks to increase its investments in the region.

Lim, who was previously the chief operating officer for the Hong Kong operation since 2017, was appointed interim chief executive.

Lim, a bank industry veteran with 25 years of experience, released a statement saying that it was an “exceptional time” to join HSBC in Asia as they accelerate their investment in Asia.

HSBC committed to invest more than $6B in Asia within the next five-years, with a special focus on wealth management.
