BBC Studios picks U.S. exec Glashow to head global distribution -Breaking

LONDON (Reuters), BBC Studios has appointed Rebecca Glashow, president of BBC Studios Americas to lead its global distribution. The move demonstrates its support for the U.S. market.

BBC Studios revealed Monday that Glashow will be responsible for global distribution, including content sales and direct-to-consumer service. It also includes international channels, coproductions, licensing and other services.

BBC Studios includes “Top Gear”, “Doctor Who” and other titles. It was founded in 2018 in an effort to integrate the BBC’s commercial production with international distribution, in order to maximize the income earned from the licensing fee that is paid by British TV-watching homes.

In its annual report, the BBC stated that it expected the arm of 1.5 billion pounds ($2billion) in income over the next five years starting in 2022/23. This is in addition to major partnerships such as FX and Discovery (NASDAQ).
