(Reuters) -CNN’s executive Allison Gollust resigned following an internal investigation that found policy violations by her and other employees, WarnerMedia chief executive Jason Kilar informed staff in a memo seen at Reuters on Tuesday.

After a CNN investigation into Chris Cuomo’s conduct, the network fired him as a primetime CNN anchor in December. He was accused of assisting Andrew Cuomo (ex-Gov. of New York), who was also charged with sexual misconduct.

CNN President Jeff Zucker announced earlier this month that he was resigning, claiming that he failed to reveal a consensual relationship involving a colleague. CNN anchor Brian Stelter claimed at the time the relationship was with Gollust who is the network’s chief marketing officer.

WarnerMedia issued a statement confirming Gollust’s resignation.

The investigation by an independent firm, led by a former federal Judge, concluded in the weekend. The investigation was based on more than 40 interviews and an analysis of over 100,000 emails and texts. It found that Zucker, Gollust, and Cuomo violated company policies.

This news was troubling and disappointing. It is also, frankly, very painful. Kilar acknowledged that many people have these feelings. CNN maintains the highest journalistic integrity, which must be applied equally to everyone. Based on the evidence I received during the investigation, I believe that we took the correct actions and made the right decision.

Gollust posted a comment to CNN’s online portal calling WarnerMedia’s statement “deeply disappointed” and “an effort to retaliate împotriva me and change media narratives in the wake their poor handling of events over the last two week.”

Cuomo’s spokesperson released a statement in support of the ex-primetime host, which claimed Zucker and Gollust knew and were “fully supportive” his efforts to assist Andrew Cuomo.

In an email statement, the spokesperson stated that “the still unanswered question is when WarnerMedia will release its investigative results and explain its presumed basis for terminating Mr. Cuomo.”

Zucker couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

CNN is part of AT&T-owned WarnerMedia, which is being spun off in a $43 billion transaction with Discovery (NASDAQ:).
