Steven Spielberg actually envisioned his metaverse in Ready Player One (2018). Although it looked bleak, the film showed the potential of the Metaverse. It promised immense profits, fame and immortality.

Similarly, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg changed his company name to Meta as a show of solidarity towards the Metaverse concept.

Fashion, jewelry and wearables have been followed by other industries such as FMCG, FMCG and fashion. Industry have taken note of the shift in consumer priorities, who value tangible goods equally as intangible ones.

The Generation Z segment is the most engaged in digital life after the Millennials. They are the greatest force on the internet– setting directions and trends that shape the future global digital market of goods and services. The gaming industry has developed Pay 2 Win, progressive subscriptions and virtual currency trading.

Scammers are still out there to steal money from innocents in the new intangible products. That’s why there has been a rise in the prioritization of cyber-security in recent years.

NFT technology allows secure and safe transfer of values from the real-world to the metaverse. This technology verifies sales using a unique blockchain-based certificate. Art, shoe, purse and record collection may all be as valuable in the metaverse than in real life.

Today, the world’s largest companies are changing their business strategies and multi-billion fortunes are being created as we speak.

It is possible that we will all eventually find it hard to distinguish between virtual reality and real life.
