REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/File Photo(Reuters) –Ubisoft reported Thursday that its quarterly net bookings were in the middle of its targets. It also said it expects “strong growth” for the current quarter.
Ubisoft’s net book sales rose from 308.5 millions euros to 348.8 million euros the year before, driven by “Assassin Creed Vahalla”, which was released in November, and its “Assassin Creed Odyssey” title.
Ubisoft stated that Far Cry 6 saw more players than any other game in its franchise.
“Q4 will witness very strong growth, with very dynamic backcatalogue trends and high-quality new release, partnerships, and significant postlaunch content delivery across our brands,” Chief Executive Yves Guillemot stated in a statement.
Paris-listed publishers of games reported net bookings in excess of 725-780 millions euros for the three months ending Dec. 31.
Net bookings include sales of services and products sold online or physically, and revenue from license fees and other agreements.
Ubisoft had record bookings for 2020, as many gamers chose to stay home due to coronavirus lockdowns. However, Ubisoft also experienced a slowdown in production from health restrictions, which led the company not only delaying several titles but also cutting its outlook for the full year in October 2021.
Ubisoft recorded 1 billion euros net bookings in its third quarter of 2020/21.
