(Reuters) – Intel Corp (NASDAQ:) Thursday’s announcement by Intel stated that it will delay the release of desktop-specific graphics chips in the second quarter. However, the laptop graphics chips will still be available for purchase in the first quarter.

This announcement was made in the context of chip shortages and problems with global supply chains. Chipmakers are struggling to meet unprecedented demand.

Arc’s graphics chips will be competing with Nvidia (NASDAQ) Corp and Advanced Micro Devices.

Intel announced in August 2018 that graphics chips for computers would be arriving in the first quarter in 2022.

In the first quarter of 2022 notebooks will be offered by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), the company stated ahead of the annual investor meeting.

Intel will deliver add-in cards to desktops and workstations during the second quarter.
