Gucci enters The Sandbox metaverse with its latest project “Gucci Vault”

Gucci is the world’s most famous fashion house and has acquired a virtual space in The Sandbox. They will now begin to build a world there.

Gucci announced the news via Twitter (NYSE:), and Discord Group with 73,000 members.

The new venture is an interactive expansion of the Gucci Vault project, which houses its NFT collaborations and vintage items, self-described as an “experimental online space” that merges the past, present, and future through the power of imagination.

Alessandro Michelle is Gucci’s creative director. She envisions a future where creators and players can buy digital collectibles made by Gucci designers. Gucci merchandise can be bought by Sandbox players for their digital avatars.

Luxury brand did not disclose details about the value of the lots or their price.

The announcement is far from the label’s first foray into the metaverse. Last month, it teamed up with SuperPlastic for a sold-out three-part series of Gucci x SuperPlastic NFs. Two Roblox developers were also part of the partnership to create an official line for clothing in December 2020.

Sandbox, an Ethereum-based open world game that players can create and own their virtual experiences, is a community-driven platform. It has been attracting big brands to the metaverse since the beginning of the year, and transactions are made using the game’s native SAND token.
