REUTERS/Naseem ZeitoonQatar Airways has accused Airbus, the planemaker of Qatar Airways on Friday of revoking an Order for 50 A321neo Jets. The airline was under pressure over a separate dispute about paintwork on A350-sized jets. It is taking court action against Airbus to stop it from cancelling its deal.
In court, a lawyer representing the Gulf carrier stated that $330 million had been paid in prepayments to the airline for 50 of its jets.
Airbus reaffirmed its decision to cancel the order to safeguard its legal rights, and stated it wouldn’t do anything to stop the first deliveries of jets while it awaits further hearings.
A UK court will hear Qatar Airways’ application for an injunction to stop Airbus cancelling its A321neo Order in April.
