BEIJING (Reuters). China’s foreign minister Wang Yi said Tuesday to Antony Blinken that America should not include Taiwan. China considers Taiwan its territory.

The United States announced earlier this month that it will increase its diplomatic and security support for the Indo-Pacific. Washington said that the United States would continue to work with its partners within and outside of the Indo-Pacific region in order to preserve peace and stability along the line dividing Taiwan and China.

According to a Chinese foreign ministry statement, Wang said that Taiwan’s inclusion in China’s strategy is sending “wrong messages”.

Wang stated that China was willing to settle its differences and stabilize bilateral relations.
