Union says Amazon continues to interfere with election at Alabama warehouse -Breaking

(Reuters) – An American retail worker’s union accused Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ:) Tuesday of illegally interfering in a union election held at an Alabama warehouse. The company was previously found to be engaging in unconstitutional conduct to discourage labor organizing.

Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union filed allegations with the National Labor Relations Board. These charges claimed Amazon took union literature out of employee breakrooms, made warehouse access more difficult before and after shifts, and required workers to attend anti-union meeting.

Amazon didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

The NLRB sent ballots for unionization to workers at Bessemer (Alabama) earlier this month and will total the votes towards the end March.

In an election last year, the RWDSU lost easily. However, the NLRB discarded those results because it found that Amazon illegally influenced the vote. Amazon encouraged workers to put ballots into a mailbox located on the company’s property.

If it loses, the charges brought forth Tuesday may provide the foundation for the union’s challenge to the outcome of the upcoming election.
