Two Metaverses belonging to the Mafia with similar names were rebranded. This Story Even Tarantino appearedUnexpectedly, a confusing mess in crypto gaming was recently discovered. This confusion has since been resolved. Two mafia style metaverse games with almost identical titles, have existed in the space for quite some time, though they are unrelated: ‘Sin City‘ and ‘Syn City‘. The situation becomes even more odd when you consider neo-noir crime movie ‘Sin City‘ directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez with Quentin Tarantino as a special guest director.
After regaining the universe and name rights in 2018, Frank Miller still holds all rights to the names. Red Mile Entertainment acquired the license for the game title in 2007 as well. Red Mile Entertainment also acquired the licensing for the game in 2007. Frank Miller, Gala Labs, and Concept Art House released a Sin City NFT Collection of 10 pieces.
It appears that none of the mentioned developers took much notice of this fact.
To avoid any confusion, the two teams responsible for each game announced their separate rebrands. The game formerly known as ‘Sin City‘ will henceforth be known by the name ‘Sinverse’, while ‘Syn City‘ becomes ‘Mobland.’ The first company announced the change in a recent post on their blog, whilst Syn City didn’t specifically announce anything, but rather changed their entire whitepaper. It should be noted though that the trailer used there still features the project’s old name.
Interestingly enough, both games’ webpages are still going by their now defunct names. Of course, an official name change is not a quick or easy process, but they should definitely speed things up before Frank Miller notices they’re using his brand!
