Democrats have raised a lot of money after President Joe Biden stated that Judge Ketanji Jackson would be joining the Supreme Court.

After Biden’s tweet today confirming that he will nominate Jackson for the highest court in America, ActBlue’s online fundraising website raised over $1million. Jackson, if confirmed would be the first Black woman elected to the bench.

CNBC monitored the ActBlue live donation ticker within the hour following Biden’s 10 a.m. tweet. ET tweeted that Biden was nominating Jackson to replace the retiring liberal Justice Stephen Breyer. ActBlue raised just above $100,000 while Jackson and Biden addressed the nation on Friday afternoon.

ActBlue allows Democratic donors to fund campaigns and political action committees online. ActBlue’s spokesperson declined to comment.

Democratic political organizations have promoted Jackson’s nomination via their social media platforms. This is often done to raise money. Democrats may need to tap their financial resources in order to defeat Republican resistance to Jackson’s nomination.

It is divided 50-50 between the parties. Jackson’s confirmation will require a simple majority from Democrats. A number of Republican lawmakers are already opposing Jackson’s confirmation, including Sen. Lindsey Graham from the Senate Judiciary Committee, a Republican who previously voted for her nomination as a Circuit Judge.

Right-leaning dark finance group the Judicial Crisis Network was in process of $2.5 million advertising blitz targeting Democrats and Biden to attack their potential Supreme Court nomination. Allies of Leonard Leo, conservative judicial activist advisor, run the organization. The donors are not disclosed by the organization.

Demand Justice (a progressive dark-money group) promoted Jackson’s nomination instantly on its Facebook page. People were encouraged to phone their senators to urge them to swiftly confirm Jackson. Since then, the group announced a $1million ad buy to support Jackson’s nomination. It was the group’s first. adOne of the campaign’s highlights is a comment by Paul Ryan (former Republican House Speaker) praising Jackson. (Ryan is related to Jackson through their marriage. It will air on both national and Washington D.C.-based Cable and Digital ads.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSC) are two of the party committees who have supported Jackson’s nomination via their Facebook pages.

Demand Justice representatives didn’t respond to inquiries about Jackson’s actual contributions since Jackson’s announcement.
