West moves closer to cutting Russia’s SWIFT access, says Lithuania -Breaking

VILNIUS, Reuters – Western partners have been working to stop Russia from accessing the SWIFT international interbank payment system. This was stated by Ingrida Simonyte, Lithuanian Prime Minister.

“We want to get the decision made as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, I can’t give any specific date. Simonyte said that he heard nothing to suggest there was any strong opposition.

Canada, Britain (United States), the United States and the European Union said on Friday they were willing to act in order to remove Russia from SWIFT, as part of an additional round of sanctions that aimed at stopping Russia’s invasion Ukraine.
