REUTERS/Umit BektasGENEVA, (Reuters) – At least 102 Ukrainian civilians have been killed in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last Thursday. Another 304 were injured. But the true number is believed to be much higher, U.N. human right chief Michelle Bachelet stated on Monday.
Bachelet addressed the Human Rights Council’s opening session in Geneva. He stated that most of those killed were caused by explosion weapons having a large impact area. This includes shelling from heavy artillery, multi-launch rocket systems and air strikes. “I fear that the real numbers are much higher.”
According to her, 422,000 Ukrainians are now refugees from their country. Many more have been displaced in the country.
