LONDON (Reuters] – JPMorgan is set to eliminate Russia from its environmental, social, and governance (ESG), versions of its emerging bond indexes. The company continues to examine the country’s ejections from its popular emerging debt benchmarks.

According to a source close to the bank, Russia will be taken out of the ESG versions JPMorgan’s Government Bond Index-Emerging Markets and JP Morgan Emerging Market Bond Index. According to the source, JPMorgan is currently consulting with clients regarding when and how Russia will be removed from ESG index.

The West’s sanctions against Russia are still being assessed by the Bank. This will impact Russia’s inclusion in its major emerging market bond indexes.
