(Reuters) – U.S. Chipmaker Nvidia Corp claimed Tuesday that a hacker had accessed employee credentials as well as company proprietary information after the systems of Nvidia were compromised.

The spokesperson for the company stated that there is no evidence that ransomware was used on NVIDIA’s environment, or that it has anything to do with the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Santa Clara-based Nvidia said that it was made aware of the breach Jan. 23, 2009. Nvidia said it was analyzing the data that had been leaked, and did not expect any disruption to the business.

An anonymous ransomware group called “Lapsus$”, claimed that the leak was caused by a virus and had access to the firmware and schematics of the graphic chips.

Nvidia, with a market capitalization of approximately $600 billion is America’s most valuable chipmaker. Nvidia is well-known for its advanced computer simulations and graphics processing units (GPU).
