U.S. to release 30 million barrels of oil, aims to end ‘weaponization’ of Russian oil -Breaking

This was in order to support energy markets during the ongoing Russia invasion. However, it said that additional steps could be taken if necessary.
Jen Psaki, White House spokesperson said that they are ready to employ every tool to minimize disruptions to the global energy supply due to (Russian President) Vladimir Putin’s actions.”
According to the statement, they will “continue our efforts to divert energy resources away from Russia and protect the planet from Moscow’s weaponsization of oil or gas.”
In a separate statement, the U.S. Department of Energy stated that the United States and thirty member countries of International Energy Agency had agreed to free 60 million barrels of crude oil from strategic reserves in order to stabilize world energy markets.
Jennifer Granholm, U.S. Energy Secretary, stated that “We are ready to take additional steps if necessary.”
