Airbus halts Russia parts, studying engineering centre options -Breaking

PARIS (Reuters – Airbus announced Wednesday that it has stopped sending spare parts and support to Russia to Airbus, but was still analyzing whether the Moscow engineering center could continue to provide services for local customers in light of Western sanctions.

“Airbus has suspended support services to Russian airlines, as well as the supply of spare parts to the country,” a spokesperson said in an emailed statement.

The statement stated that the Airbus Engineering Centre (ECAR), Russia, had put all of its Airbus operations on hold in accordance with sanctions.

Airbus added that ECAR analyzes the export control sanctions and determines if the activity is allowed to continue.

According to their website, the Airbus Engineering Centre Russia was established in 2003 as a joint venture between Systema Invest, Airbus and Kaskol. It employs 200 Russian engineers.
