WASHINGTON (Reuters] – According to a Reuters/Ipsos poll, a broad bipartisan majority believe that the United States should end its purchase of Russian oil and gas. They should instead work with NATO to establish “no-fly areas” to help Ukraine protect itself from Russian airstrikes.
According to the poll conducted on Thursday and Friday, Americans are growing angry at Russia’s invasion in Ukraine. This has resulted in increasing Russian bombing of cities.
The U.S. President Joe Biden is under increasing pressure to move more aggressively towards Moscow. However, he rejected the concept of no fly zones due to open conflict between NATO troops and Russian forces.
It wasn’t clear whether respondents supporting a no fly zone knew of the danger of conflict. Majorities also opposed any American military intervention in Ukraine.
According to the poll, around 80% Americans believe that the United States should cease buying Russian oil.
A bipartisan 74% American majority voted for the United States of America and North Atlantic Treaty Organization to impose an no-fly zone on Ukraine.
It was carried out online as well as in English across the United States. This poll received responses from 831 adults. The credibility interval is a measure to precision of four percentage points.
