TikTok suspends livestreaming, new uploads in Russia -Breaking

(Reuters) – TikTok – The Chinese-owned video platform said Sunday that it would stop live-streaming in Russia and allow users to upload videos. It is reviewing the consequences of a Friday’s media law, signed by Vladimir Putin.

According to Twitter (NYSE 🙂 posts, https:// “We are forced to suspend livestreaming” and add new video content to our service. The company also stated in an article that the law would have safety consequences. In-app messaging was not affected.

The U.S. government condemned Saturday’s new law. This could result in up to 15-year imprisonments for spreading fake news, as the Kremlin calls it.
