TALLINN (Reuters] – Russia’s self-interest is to prevent Iran from acquiring nukes, U.S. Secretary Antony Blinken stated during a Tuesday visit to Estonia.

“We are continuing to try to reach mutual compliance with Iran regarding the agreement. Russia will continue to engage in such efforts. It has its own interest to ensure Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon,” Blinken explained.

Moscow put a stopper in the works Saturday just as indirect talks between Tehran, Washington and Vienna seemed to be heading for an agreement. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the West’s sanctions on Ukraine were a blocker for any nuclear deal.
