Jury convicts Guy Reffitt, first Jan. 6 Capitol riot defendant to stand trial

On Tuesday, a federal jury convicted the first defendant in a case relating to the January 6, 2021 storming at the U.S. Capitol by supporters of Donald Trump.
Guy Reffitt from Texas was convicted on all five of his charges at the U.S. District Court in Washington.
The jury deliberated less than 4 hours to reach their guilty verdicts. They were guilty of the two civil disorder counts and one each of obstruction in an official proceeding, entry restricted with a firearm and obstruction of justice.
