Investing.com: The U.S. stock exchanges opened higher on Wednesday, a result of a shift in Ukraine and Russia’s messaging that suggests they are moving closer to a settlement.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry dropped what seemed to be an important element in its war objectives. Maria Zakharova spokeswoman at the Foreign Ministry, saying that Moscow didn’t intend to overthrow or occupy Ukraine. Ihor Zhovkva was later named as the deputy chief of staff for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zilensky. She said that Russia is open to discussing neutrality in exchange for security guarantees. This would render the question of Ukraine joining NATO moot.
The index was at 9:33 ET (1433 GMT) and had risen 580 points or 1.8% to 33,213 point. It was up by 2.0% while it was up by 2.5%
This improvement in risk appetite is also evident immediately in oil prices which dropped over 5% to their lowest levels since Friday. U.S. crude oil futures fell to $117.50 per barrel after President Joe Biden declared that the U.S. would ban Russian imports, which forced U.S. buyers into the open market.
