(Reuters) – Walt Disney (NYSE:) On Wednesday, Co Chief Executive Bob Chapek expressed disappointment with the Florida bill that limited LGBT discussions in schools. He said he had called Governor Ron DeSantis and voiced concern at it becoming law.

Disney was pressured to speak out against legislation critics claim will hurt the lesbian, gay and transgender community.

Chapek claimed that Chapek’s company worked behind-the scenes and relied on longstanding relationships to lawmakers in order to affect the outcome.

“I get that our original approach was well meant, but it didn’t really accomplish the task,” Chapek declared during Disney’s shareholder annual meeting.
