Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The Sydney closing bell saw the rise of 1.10%.

These were the best performers of the session Flight Centre Ltd (ASX): traded at 18.87 after the close, up 6.61%. That’s an increase of 1.17 points. Meanwhile, Webjet Ltd (ASX 🙂 gained 5.83%, or 0.31 point to finish at 5.63. Qantas Airways Ltd was up 5.79% (or 0.27 points) to 4.93 in late trading.

They were also the session’s worst performers Nickel Mines Ltd (ASX) fell 13.17%, or 0.19 point to trade at 1.22 by the close. Rio Tinto Ltd. ASX: declined 7.73% (or 9.27 points) to finish at 110.61. Beach Energy Ltd. ASX: was down 5.90% (or 0.10 points) to 1.60.

The Sydney Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 857 percent to 547, and ended the day unchanged at 380.

The April delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.14%, or 2.70, to $1985.50 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 2.57 to reach $111.28/barrel in April, and the May Brent Oil contract, which rose 3.51% to trade at $115.04.

The AUD/USD exchange rate was stable at 0.73 USD, but the AUD/JPY traded up 0.36% to 85.11.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.6% at 98.01.
