India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 1.53% -Breaking

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index gained 1.50% and the NSE rose 1.53% at the closing.

They were the top performers at the session Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NS): Traded at 2,101.95 by the close, up 5.21%. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Ltd (NS) was up 4.25%, or 53.35 point to reach 1,308.70 Grasim Industries In late trade, Ltd (NSS:) rose 4.12% or 61.55 to 1,554.90

They were also the worst performers of the session. Coal India Ltd (NS): The close was a fall of 4.13%, or 7.70 points. It traded at 178.95. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 1.29% or 19.40 points to end at 1,485.35 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was down 0.97% or 37.95 points to 3,892.50.

BSE Sensex 30 was dominated by Hindustan Unilever Ltd. – which rose 5.17%, to 2,101.00; Tata Steel Ltd. – which increased 4.27% to settle in 1,308.40; and State Bank Of India – which gained 3.70% until it closed at 468.60.

The worst performers were Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.28% to 1,485.00 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.78% to settle at 3,894.15 and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.36% to 3,620.10 at the close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1317, 499, and 24 respectively. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 2344 rise and 915 fall, and 97 ended the same.

The implied volatility index of the Nifty 50 options was 6.86% lower at 25.58.

For April delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.69% to $2.013.90 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 4.9% or to reach $113.19/barrel, and May Brent oil, which rose 4.82%/ 5.36 to trade for $116.50/barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.37%, to 76.46. EUR/INR declined 0.24%, to 84.36.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.3% at 98.26
