La Nina conditions to prevail through summer, says U.S. weather forecaster -Breaking

(Reuters) – A U.S. government forecaster stated that there is a 53% chance for La Nina conditions to continue in the Northern Hemisphere’s summer.
La Nina is characterized with unusually cold temperatures in the equatorial Pacific ocean.
The National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center, (CPC), stated that there was a 40-50% chance for La Nina and ENSO-neutral following.
The forecaster consensus favored a slow decay of La Nina because of the renewed ocean-atmosphere correlation, which has contributed to cooler near term forecasts.” it said.
El Nino is a pattern that causes a slight warming in ocean surface temperatures over the Pacific eastern and central Pacific each year. It’s opposite to La Nina.
