Through April 18, travelers will be required to wear masks at all airports and on buses and trains in the United States, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

This mandate expires on March 19.

The mandate was extended as federal, state and local governments have reversed mask mandates as well as other pandemic strategies in response to the drop in Covid cases.

TSA will, at CDC’s request, extend the security directive regarding mask usage on public transport and transportation hubs by one month to April 18, according the CDC. “CDC will continue to work closely with agencies government in order to create a revised policy framework that details when and how masks can be used within public transportation corridors.

The CDC stated that the new framework would be based upon Covid cases, “new variant risk” and the “latest science.”

TSA declined to comment immediately.
