Investing.com – BMW (OTC) announced Thursday that it has joined forces with Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:) and Arriver to co-develop the next generation of automated driving systems. Arriver was created as a result of a partnership between two companies. Veoneer (NYSE: ) and Qualcomm

This long-term partnership will allow the two companies to focus on developing next-generation automated driver technologies together. It includes a New Car Assessment Program, Level 2 Advanced Driving Assist Systems, and Level 3 High Automated Driving. 

Co-development of software functions will be based upon the BMW Automated Driving Software stack.

Automated Driving will be the focus of both companies. BMW stated that the project will require more than 1,400 people working in different locations around the world.

In November last year, the companies revealed BMW’s next-generation Automated Driving System will be using the Snapdragon Ride Vision system-on-chip.
