Li is the No. Li, the No.2 in China’s Communist Party hierarchy has held this position since 2013. He is limited by law to two terms.
Li stated that this was the final year he will be Premier.
President Xi Jinping should be able to win a third consecutive term as party chief during a party meeting to elect the leaders of the next five-years.
China amended its constitution in 2015 so that the limit for presidential candidates was reduced to two terms.
The next premier can be chosen by party leaders.
