LONDON, Reuters -Many Nike (NYSE:) Russian stores opened Friday afternoon according to Reuters. It was Friday after the World’s Largest Sports Retailer, Reuters reported.
An employee at one of the six Moscow shops Reuters called said that they didn’t know much information but believed that the store would be open for at most, a month.
Nike, along with several other Western brands, announced that they would cease operations in Russia at its stores on March 3. According to its store directory, Nike had approximately 100 Russian Federation stores.
One employee from Nike’s Russian corporate office told Reuters many stores were open. However, the employee stated that Nike Factory Stores had been temporarily closed.
Nike in Beaverton, Oregon said that all the currently open locations are owned or operated by partners. The company will also soon update its store locator online with information about closed shops.
Nike had made merchandise sales on its app and website in Russia inaccessible days prior to the announcement of temporary store closures. Instead, it directed customers who reside in Russia to brick and mortar shops. For employees working in closed shops, the company offers continuity pay.
