Japan senior coalition lawmaker urges economic stimulus -Breaking

REUTERS/IsTOKYO (Reuters), a senior member of Japan’s ruling coalition stated Saturday that economic stimulus measures should be compiled by the government to combat rising energy and food prices.
Natsuo Yamaguchi is head of Komeito and the junior partner of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. He said that these measures are necessary in order to prevent a rise in oil prices, wheat, and other commodities as a consequence of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Yamaguchi also called on the government to reduce retail fuel prices, using a trigger clause that would allow it to lower the gasoline tax and existing energy subsidies.
