Pakistan demands joint probe into ‘accidental’ India missile fire -Breaking

ISLAMABAD (Reuters), – Pakistan has demanded a joint inquiry into a missile India claims it accidentally launched into its territory. New Delhi rejected Pakistan’s request for an internal investigation and called on the international community not to play a part in the matter.

Pakistan’s foreign ministry stated in a statement that “such a serious matter can not be dealt with with the simplistic explanation offered by the Indian authorities.”

The statement added that Pakistan demanded a joint investigation in order to establish all facts.

India claimed that it accidentally launched the missile in Pakistan on Friday due to a technical malfunction during routine maintenance. This was India’s version after Pakistan threatened New Delhi with “unpleasant” consequences.

International community must take a “due role” in maintaining stability in an environment that is nuclearized, Pakistan’s foreign office stated. It warned of possible “dire consequences” for any side who misunderstands the situation.
