Two women had been stabbed in the Museum of Modern Art at Midtown Manhattan, and they were forced to evacuate it Saturday afternoon according to a spokesperson for New York City Police Department.

They were both in stable condition, and they are on the way to Bellevue Hospital. The investigation led her to decline any additional information.

It is advised that people avoid this area. According to an alert issued by the city’s emergency notification system, there were likely traffic delays and road closings around West 53rd Street.

Social media users shared photos and videos of police vehicles surrounding the entry to the museum. Some even described being evacuated.

“Went to @MuseumModernArt to make new friends. A stampede of people fled as we were greeted,” Alyssa Katz (deputy editor, The City) shared via Twitter.
