BERLIN (Reuters) – The Volkswagen (DE:) Group has a 16% share of China’s market in 2021, and the VW brand is back to profit in North America and South America according to the German carmaker.

Volkswagen Group would have been able to sell significantly more Chinese cars in 2021, but the continuing shortage of semiconductors hampered sales.

Volkswagen reported that South America had seen a brand turnaround and it was reporting a positive result. It also stated that North America has returned to profitability, after having been in decline for several years.
