Kimbal Musk (left), Nadya Tlokonnikova (right) and Alex Zhang joined the SXSW stage Monday for the “Move Over FFTs” event. Austin’s Convention Center: Here Comes the DAOs. Tolokonnikova, a former member the Russian protest band Pussy Riot as well as the cofounders of UnicornDAO (UkraineDAO) and UkraineDAO. Zhang founded DAO Friends With Benefits as a social club and currently serves as its mayor. Musk is the founder of Big Green DAO, a philanthropic foundation. Michael Casey was the moderator.

The discussion saw the panelists discuss their different use cases and the reasons behind decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). They came to the conclusion ownership, transparency, and localization are key elements of a DAO’s success.
