(Reuters) – Canada will no longer require that all travelers entering Canada be fully vaccinated before they can enter the country. The plan is effective from April 1. According to a source, the move was implemented on Wednesday.

According to a government source who did not want to be identified because it was still secret, the government will announce that there are no additional testing requirements for anyone entering the country via all means of transportation on Thursday.

Partially or completely unvaccinated travellers would need to be tested before they can enter the country.

The federal government is taking a less aggressive approach than the provinces to ease restrictions on health as the Omicron COVID waves fade.

Canada’s largest province and most populous, Ontario announced last week that it will eliminate virtually all pandemic-related public safety measures by April 31st. This was due to the lower threat from the pandemic. Alberta and Quebec have also made announcements to ease restrictions.

Canadian carriers could see a rebound in spring travel following a slump caused by coronavirus infection.

Canadian Broadcasting Corp previously reported that they had plans to abolish the test requirement.
