U.S. to pay $127.5 million to resolve claims over 2018 Parkland school shooting -Breaking

(Reuters) – On Wednesday, the U.S. Justice Department stated that the settlement of 40 civil lawsuits arising from February 2018’s mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida was reached for $127.5 million.

In a statement, the Justice Department announced that the settlement “resolves all cases for $127.5million”.

A source who was familiar with the discussions told Reuters that in November, the U.S. government reached a settlement with families of faculty and students killed or injured in the shooting.

It claimed the lives of 17 students as well as staff.
