Jack Dorsey’s Block joins $41M funding for Japanese fintech Kyash -Breaking

Kyash, the Tokyo-based digital wallet company, has raised $41.2 million in Series D funding. This is a total of 4.9 billion Japanese yen. In 2015 the company launched Kyash, a cashless mobile application and associated credit card. The app has raised an estimated $108million, or 12.8billion yen, since then.
Global investors as well Japanese banks participated in this round. This included Jack Dorsey’s Block from Japan, Altos Ventures Goodwater Capital, and StepStone Group, both in the United States. Greyhound Capital, SMBC Nikko Securities and JAFCO Group contributed additional investment. AccordingAccording to an article by, Kyash is Block’s first investment in Asia-based companies.
