Tesla restarts production at Shanghai plant after two-day stoppage

REUTERS/Aly SongSHANGHAI, (Reuters) – Tesla (NASDAQ) has resumed production in its Shanghai factory Friday, following a two-day suspension. This was reportedly because movement restrictions imposed upon its workers by the city to combat the COVID-19 epidemic have been lifted.
People said that the Shanghai factory started its second shift production again at 7:15 a.m. GMT (2300 GMT) in order to work around the clock. According to people, enough workers returned to their jobs after they had been kept in residential areas for 48 hours. They were then required to undergo COVID-19 testing.
Tesla didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.
Reuters reported Wednesday that the U.S. manufacturer of electric vehicles had stopped production in its Shanghai plant for two days. This was according to a notice sent to suppliers and internal staff. China is tightening its measures to stop its worst outbreak in over two years.
Tesla stated that it is doing all it can to maintain production at Shanghai’s factory, while China implements COVID-19. They did not offer any further details.
