(Reuters) –Alphabet Inc.’s Google (NASDAQ) has reached an agreement with six former and current employees that they had alleged had unfairly stifled employee organizing. This abruptly ends a lengthy trial which had been halted for several months. Legal filings indicate.

After pursuing the case for the workers, the U.S. National Labor Relations Board brought Google before an administrative judge last year. The hearings were stopped for several weeks in order to resolve a dispute regarding whether Kent Walker (NLRB) could make Google legal chief testify.

Laurie Burgess is an attorney who represented the workers. She said they had to balance that with wanting to share additional evidence on Project Vivian and Google’s attempt to curb worker activism.

“We exposed enough, and it’s time for my clients to be able to move on with their lives,” Burgess said.

Independently, workers settled with Google on Wednesday. The NLRB didn’t object, and the San Francisco judge dismissed the case last Friday. Files indicate. Vice reported this settlement for the first time Monday.

It was not known what the terms of settlement would be. Another parallel suit in California’s state court was also dismissed.

Google and the NLRB didn’t immediately reply to comments requests.

It was about Google’s actions in relation to workers who had been part of a wider protest against the company’s relationship with U.S. immigration authorities in 2019.

Google fired some workers after interrogating them. This was to deter people from taking part in illegally protected concerted activities.

Google denied any wrongdoing and argued that employees it suspended or fired were able to access files they shouldn’t have.

For years, Silicon Valley’s worker activism has seen a rise. In the hope of better protecting their rights during future protests, hundreds of Google employees formed last year a small labor union.
