Miami Beach declares curfew after spate of gun violence -Breaking

(Reuters) – Miami Beach has declared a curfew starting Thursday and ending Monday. This was in response to the violence that is occurring at Miami Beach’s spring break events, as well as the raucous crowds. Officials stated Monday.

In two shootings that occurred over the weekend in separate incidents, five people were taken to the hospital. Larger crowds have also flooded the island near Miami.

Alina Hudak, City Manager said that she will declare a state of emergency which enacts an overnight curfew and a six-hour stop at 6 am for five consecutive nights. Officials indicated that anyone walking on the street would be asked to leave after midnight.

“Our city is far beyond its final point. The news conference was addressed by Dan Gelber, Miami Beach mayor.

Richard Clements, Chief of Police said that 371 police officers were deployed over the weekend. Police also confiscated 37 firearms in the three-day period.
