Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The gained 0.86% at the Sydney close to reach a new one-month high.

BHP Billiton Limited (ASX:) was among the top performers for the session. This stock rose 5.10% to 48.82, or 2.37 point. Mineral Resources Ltd. (ASX) gained 4.85%, or 2.27 point to trade at 49.09. Pilbara Minerals Ltd Late trade saw an ASX increase of 4.53%, or 0.13 point to 3,00

Atlas Arteria (ASX) was the worst performer of the session, falling 5.31% or 0.37 point to close at 6.60. Zip Co Ltd. (ASX 🙂 lost 4.08% (0.07 points) to finish at 1.53, while Magellan Financial Group Ltd. (ASX 🙂 dropped 3.78% (0.57 points) to 14.49.

The Sydney Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 770 to 579, and 447 was unchanged at the end.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 4.13% to 15.85.

For April delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.26% to $1.934.50 an ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 1.8% or 1.88 to $111.85 per barrel. The May Brent oil contract rose 2.07 or 1.79% to $117.69 per barrel.

The AUD/USD exchange rate was stable at 0.74, but the AUD/JPY traded up 0.64% at 88.97.
