WASHINGTON (Reuters] -A judge found a New Mexico county commissioner guilty Tuesday of his involvement in the Jan. 6th, 2021, riot on the U.S. Capitol. It was the Justice Department’s second consecutive win.

After a trial that lasted two days, the District of Columbia Federal Judge ruled Couy Griffin guilty of a misdemeanor.

This ruling confirms the key theory of prosecutors who have been involved in hundreds more cases. The prosecutors argued that Capitol grounds were off limits on January 6, 2021. This should have been obvious to thousands of Donald Trump supporters, who broke into the Capitol that day to prevent Congress from certifying the election.
