The U.S. and UK steel trade deal, which is expected to be made public later Tuesday afternoon, will allow the entry of more than 500,000 tons of British steel each year into the United States free-of-duty. This was according to sources familiar with this agreement.
According to sources, the agreement requires that the steel be “melted, poured, and rolled” in Britain. It will also remove Britain’s retaliatory tariffs against iconic U.S. goods like Harley-Davidson (NYSE 🙂 motorcycles and Levi’s blue jeans (NYSE :). The source spoke on condition of anonymity as the details have not been released.
